VBR-1 Recieves CARES Act Funds

The Van Buren R-1 School District has received a total of $213,005.56 in state and local CARES Act funds to help offset expenses from the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds were utilized to purchase student Chromebooks, Nano air purifiers for each room, disinfectant foggers, water fountain bottle filling stations, germicide light, automatic restrooms fixtures, PPE and other essential supplies. These are important steps in limiting infectious disease spread and will help in years to come with minimizing COVID-19, common cold and influenza spread in our district.

Local relief by Carter County provided $113,584.85 of the fund total.  Pictured above is Carter County Commissioner Ron Keeney, Western District Commissioner, Lynn Murdick and Dr. Clay LaRue Superintendent of schools receiving the district’s last reimbursement check in the amount of $57,819.40. The Van Buren R-1 School District would like to thank the Carter County Commission for their support.
