To All Patrons of the Van Buren R-1 School District

The regularly scheduled Monthly Board Meeting for the Van Buren R-1 School District will be March 30th starting at 5:30 p.m. To protect the health of our patrons and Board of Education members, we are following our local health department and the CDC regulations concerning social distancing. Our Board Meeting will be broadcast on Zoom. The Meeting will also be recorded by computer in real time. These changes are in compliance to the Missouri Sunshine Laws for governmental meetings in a state of a Health Emergency Situation. BREAKFAST AND LUNCH SCHEDULE

The Van Buren R-1 School District along with OPAA will be delivering breakfast and lunch through this time of our school closure in response to the COVID-19 Virus. Breakfast and Lunch Grab and Go meals will be available to all students and children through 18 years of age. Parents and students have two choices to pick up their meals. From 10:00 till 11:00 A.M. Monday thru Friday a curbside service will be available at the main entrance to the Van Buren R-1 Gymnasium. Please enter through the gate at the Lower Elementary building and drive around to the main entrance where the meals will be delivered to your automobile limiting as much social contact as possible. The second choice is to pick up your meals at the designated bus stops throughout the district. A schedule is listed below with bus number, driver and time of delivery. A representative for the family may pick up meals for members, again limiting the amount of social contact.

We will start serving these meals Monday March 23rd. We will continue delivering on this schedule as long as needed by the community. Let us all work together to help each other in this time of concern and continue to monitor the District Website and Social Media for the latest announcements.

Bus # 2 Jim Dawson ---Meet at Yount Church at 10:00.

Bus # 1 Carol Sisler ---Meet at Fremont Post Office at 10:00.

Bus # 11 Tom Sensabaugh ---Will do a split meet at Crafton’s in South Town at 10:00 to 10:30 and at Houses Creek Church on M Hwy. from 10:30 to 11: 00

Bus #12 Roger Sisler ---Aldridge Valley and U Hwy. and old 60/Handle Mill Rd. meet at U Hwy. and 21 at 10:00 to 10:30 and County Line Hill at 10:45 till 11.

All cap factory kids and D Hwy. kids in town can go to school pick up service.

To the Patrons of the Van Buren R-1 school district:

As other school districts throughout the state of Missouri, the Van Buren R-1 school district is suspending all classes and activities until April 6th. This closure is in an effort to stop the spread of the COVID -19 virus. All school buildings will be closed except for essential personnel only and all events canceled or postponed until further notice. All classwork and assignments will be waived during the extended closure.

In the upcoming days a schedule will be posted on the Van Buren R-1 Website detailing a feeding schedule where we can as a district use our summer feeding program to distribute a grab and go style meal throughout the community. This will be a district effort involving school personnel and OPAA, our lunch program vendor.

These measures are in effect to ensure the wellness of our families and our community. Please stay informed using national, state and local resources.

Based on current information, the VBHS Prom will be postponed until April 24th. There may be changes in the way the event is conducted for the health and safety of our students. Please be aware that this, as well as all events and school closures, are fluid and future decisions may be required. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

The Van Buren R-1 School District's School Wellness Program has an ongoing committee which oversees wellness activities and the development, implementation, periodic review and updating of the Local School Wellness Policy.
