Van Buren Junior High has recognized Natalie Hills as the 7th grade Student of the Month for September. Natalie is the daughter of Donald and Kerri Hills.   Here are a few of the great things Natalie's teachers had to say about her:

“Natalie is a very hard worker!  She has a great attitude and is a model citizen.”

“Natalie is a role model for her peers, always showing kindness and respect to others. She takes responsibility for her work and always puts forth her best effort. She is always leading by example inside and outside the classroom.”

“Natalie is a wonderful student! She always brings a smile and her best effort to my classroom. Natalie is always on task and helps those around her. I enjoy having her in class. Wonderful job, Natalie!”

Mrs. Ross’ students stepped into the role of forensic scientists. Using macromolecule testing, they analyzed “evidence” to determine if the substance contained proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids —all to help solve a murder mystery in the lab. 🥼 🧪

It was hands-on learning with a twist of detective work, and they did an amazing job piecing together the science and the story.

🌾💙 FFA Harvest for Hope 💙🌾 The Van Buren FFA Chapter is excited to host a community Food Box Distribution TODAY, September 20th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Van Buren High School (near the breezeway by the FEMA Building). Distribution will continue until supplies run out. Thanks to a partnership with the Ripley County Partnership and the USDA, we will be giving out 150 twenty-pound boxes of fresh produce with 8 different types of vegetables. In addition, Van Buren FFA received a $500 Living to Serve Mini Grant (sponsored by Cargill Ag and Tractor Supply) to provide dry goods to go along with the produce boxes. 🚗 Traffic signs and FFA members will guide vehicles through the pick-up route. After receiving a box, families will loop back around to exit. FFA members and community volunteers will also be available for anyone who would like their vehicle prayed over before leaving. 💛 We can’t wait to serve our community this weekend — see you there! #FFAHarvestForHope #LivingToServe #VanBurenFFA

In Ag Science 2 this week, students learned how to dry annual flowers and collect their seeds to use for next year’s planting. They also studied different types of seeds and stem structures, giving students a hands-on look at how plants grow and reproduce. This activity helped connect classroom plant science with practical skills in the agriculture industry

🔬 Mrs. Ross’ Ecology class had a blast learning the importance of clear communication in science! Students built block structures using different colors and then wrote instructions for another group to recreate them — without seeing the originals. The results? Lots of laughs and some very “unique” replicas! But most importantly, students discovered how essential details are when writing lab procedures. A fun and hands-on way to show why clear, detailed descriptions matter in science! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬
